Why Mother’s Day Is So Special

Mother’s day holds a special place in my heart for many reasons.

Today I want to share with you just one reason Mother’s day is so special to me.

My wife Missy and I had tremendous difficulty the first four years of our marriage trying to have kids.

In the fall of 2012, we were consulting doctors about what steps we needed to take in order to have children.

On my birthday, October 12th, I had a special church staff dinner my wife and I to attend, honestly I didn’t want to go, it was my birthday; however, that staff dinner turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened!

Towards the end of the dinner the special speaker, David Swann of Faith Christian Family Church asked if it would be okay to pray for our staff.

I was ready to leave, but I sat still and tried to act like I wasn’t wanting to rush out the door!

One of the things he mentioned in his prayer was that a couple on our staff was experiencing trouble having kids (That’s US!) and he said not to worry because God said we would have a quiver full of kids that brought great joy to those around them.

My wife and I sat there crying because God used someone we had never met before to speak a timely word into our lives that we needed to hear.

God cares about your life.

Every little detail, it does not escape, or take Him by surprise.

Your probably wondering… Do we have kids?

The answer is YES, today, we have a two year old girl named Andrina, who truly brings joy to everyone she is around.

Plus, as the picture above shares, My wife and I are expecting our second child, a little girl named Lucille.

So each time Mother’s day rolls around I am not only in awe of my wife’s love, sacrifice, and nurturing love she pours into our daughter, but God’s faithfulness!

Bless all you Mother’s and spiritual Mother’s out there.

You are a blessing to the kids in your ministry!
