marshmallow pop 2

This past January, Mark and I were in Florida for CPC.  We visited Downtown Disney and a quaint shop that made really cool desserts.

I tried this one and had to make it myself.

Easy to make and a great recipe for kids.

To make and give away wrap individually in small bags and tie with ribbon.

What You Need:

  • 1 bag of large marshmallows
  • 25 medium lollipop sticks
  • 1 package almond bark (vanilla or chocolate)
  • 1 bag of coconut
  • 2-3 different colored sprinkles and/or sugar

What You Do:

  • Place 1 or 2 marshmallows on the end of the lollipop stick, pushing the marshmallow all the way on the lollipop stick.
  • Dip the marshmallow into the almond bark, making sure to cover fully.
  • Tap on the side of the bowl to remove excess.
  • Roll almond bark covered marshmallow in the coconut and then sprinkle with sugar.
  • Option: Roll almond bark covered marshmallow in the sprinkles.
  • Lay to dry on wax paper, because it is covered with sprinkles or marshmallow, it won’t drip.

FUTURE TIP: Change color of sprinkles for the season.

banana(This is my story but you may have one that is similar.)

To the kids:

“When I was a kid I would spend my most of my allowance as soon as I got it. First I went to K-mart and bought some candy. (Take a bite form the banana.) Then I would go buy an ice cream cone (take another bite). Then I would go back to K-mart and buy some comic books (take another bite).

At church I would reach into my pocket and say "Sorry God. I wish I could give more but this is all I have left." (Throw the banana peel into an offering bucket.)

CHOCOLATE SELFISHNESS

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:hershey kisses 2
I Corinthians 13:5

BOTTOM LINE:
God's Love Is Never Selfish

WHAT YOU NEED:
1 bag of Hershey's Chocolate Kisses

OBJECT LESSON APPLICATION:

Human love can be selfish.  It is normal for us to put ourselves first and to think about our own needs.  This is why we need God’s love. Agape love is a supernatural love.

(Keep the bag of Chocolate Kisses hidden until you are ready to teach the lesson.)

Look what I brought to class today.  (Show the bag of candy, open and take out one Chocolate Kiss.)  I love chocolate.  Do you know what these Chocolate Kisses remind me of?  God’s love!

God loved me so much that He gave me this candy.  (Begin to eat the candy and act like you don’t intend to share any of it.)

Thank You Jesus for my Chocolate Kisses.  They taste so good.  Let’s think about God’s love.  What are some ways to show God’s love. (Allow for response.  Someone may suggest that you share your candy.  But if not, have one of your assistants make this suggestion.)

Share my Chocolate Kisses!  You want me to share my chocolate.  But these are my Chocolate Kisses that God gave to me .  I don’t want to share them.  (Someone may mention that you are being selfish.)

You are right.  God’s love is never selfish and I am being selfish right now.  I don’t want to be selfish.  I want to walk in love. I am going to share my candy with you.  This is how I can show God’s love - by sharing my candy.

Ask kids to talk about ways that they have been tempted to be selfish.

(Give everyone a Chocolate Kiss.)

stop lightWhat You Will Need:

A stop light prop (If you have an actual stoplight prop great, but if not get some foam core [more durable than poster board] and three circles of construction paper – one yellow, one red, and one green. Glue the circles on the foam core like a stoplight.

Point To Make:

The inward witness is a light like a stop light on the inside of us. It is actually the Holy Spirit trying to guide and direct us

Scripture Verse:

Romans 8: 14, 'The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit.'

Stop lights were designed to aid in traffic control. Could you imagine life without them? It would simply be chaotic. Everyone has their destination in mind, not thinking of the guy next to them. It certainly would spell disaster if there were not controls on traffic. We all know from an early age, that when the light is red it means - STOP, when it is green it means - Go, and yellow means it is getting ready to turn red. The red light is there to protect us and keep us from getting into an accident.

Puppets are boring, out-of-date and they don’t keep the kids attention.

I could not disagree more with this above statement (Unless it included that puppets are of the devil).

water_gun2When your leader is correcting you, do you look at it like they are shooting at you? Is your first reaction is to defend yourself? If you are defending yourself against your leader, you are not receiving from your leader. You are too worried about how that person is hurting you and you are not thinking about how they are trying to help you. You need to have an attitude adjustment, and put down the shield and allow your leader to mold you.
