Do you ever think about the future? Do you ever ask yourself, “What am I going to be when I grow up?” It’s fun to dream about the future.
(Pull the policeman’s hat out of the box and put it on your head.)
Have you ever thought, “I want to be a policeman?” Every boy has wanted to be a policeman at one time or another. Why is that? I think it is because we see policeman as leaders and we all want to be leaders.
(Pull out the fireman’s hat and put it on your head.)
Have you ever thought about being a fireman? You know what that is? That is vision. A vision is a plan or a dream for the future. If you want to be a leader you must know where you are going. It should be a dream that helps other people. Do firemen help other people? Yes! Do you think this is a good dream?
(Pull out the director’s hat and put it on.)
Have you ever dreamed about being a movie director like Steven Spielberg or George Lucas? Wow! That would be fun. It is good to have dreams like this but we also need to make sure it’s what God wants us to do. Do you want to be a movie director?

If your response is that you want to be famous, that is a wrong motive. If you want to make movies to influence Hollywood and others to follow Jesus, then that is a good motive.
Not only do we need to have a vision, but our vision needs to be a heavenly vision.
