Are you limiting your kids?

I am always amazed when people put age limits on what kids can do at church.

Churches may limit what kids do but the Holy Spirit does not.

My question for you is this, are you limiting your kids?

I know that you love the kids you teach every Sunday and you enjoy teaching them but are you willing to let your kids teach you?

You are the doorway for the Holy Spirit in your classroom.

As the leader you can open the door for the Holy Spirt in your class or you can keep it closed.

The Holy Spirit desires to minister through your kids but it’s not going to happen if you don’t believe it.

And it’s not going to happen if you don’t teach on the Holy Spirit.

In First Samuel we find the story of Hannah, Samuel and Eli.

Hannah was barren. She had no children and she really wanted kids. Hannah prayed to the Lord.

If you will look upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give him to you. He will be yours for an entire lifetime.”

The Lord answered Hannah’s prayer and she gave birth to a son and she named him Samuel. When Samuel was still a young child she brought him to the temple and gave him to Eli, the High Priest saying,

I am the women who stood here several years ago praying. I asked the Lord to give me this boy and he granted my request. Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life”

Hannah understand that there was a call on Samuel’s life. There was an anointing from the Holy Spirit in Samuel and that his training should be different than the other kids in the neighborhood. Hannah saw Samuel’s future.

What about you? Can you see your child’s future? What about the kids that you teach? Can you see the plan the God has for them?

Only the Holy Spirit can help you see the future of your kids.

Hannah saw Samuel’s future, but Eli still didn’t get it.

How do I know Eli, didn’t get it?

One night the Holy Spirit spoke to Samuel when he was still young, but Samuel thought Eli was talking to him.

Samuel woke up and ran to Eli.

What do you want Eli?”

“I didn’t call you Samuel. Go back to bed” Eli replied.

This happened two more times.

After the third time the Holy Spirit spoke and Eli said,

“Hey maybe God is speaking to you”

“Go back to bed. If you hear his voice again say, speak Lord, your servant hears”

Samuel went back to bed and the Holy Spirt spoke to him and gave him a prophecy that impacted the entire nation of Israel.

I find it interesting that God had to speak four times before young Samuel received the prophecy.

This tells me that something changed between the Lord’s third attempt and the fourth time God spoke – that helped Samuel receive the prophecy.

What changed was Samuel’s Teacher.

When Eli changed what he believed about Samuel and took some time to teach Samuel about how to respond to the voice of the Holy Spirit he was able to receive the prophecy.

What about you?

Are you limiting your kids like Eli was limiting Samuel?

Do you need to change?

Change what you are thinking and believing about the kids that you teach.

Are you teaching your kids about the Holy Spirit?

If not, you can start today.

Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a vision for the kids that you teach. See them the way that the Lord sees them.

We hear this a lot. “Kids don’t have a junior Holy Spirit”

It’s time to let that statement be a priority in our kids programs.

What are you waiting for?

Get started today.

P.S. I’ve got some great news, I’ve created a 12-week series on the Holy Spirit.
