Do you trust ME?

Sometimes bad things will happen that we have no control over.

One day when I was in Bible school, I received a phone call that my parents were getting a divorce.  I cried a lot as I prayed.  I asked God to help my parents and to bring them back together.

The Lord asked me, “Do you trust me?”

I said, “yes.”

He told me “I love your mom.  I love your dad.  I will take care of them.”

At that point I left it with God.  It was His problem and not mine.

That was hard to do.  What was I doing?  I was praying the Prayer of Commitment.

The Prayer of Commitment is the prayer that you pray when you trust God to help you with your problems.

The enemy wants you to keep thinking about the problem over and over.  Worry is thinking about all the bad things that have happened in your life.

God wants you to think about the good things.  The Bible says, “Give all your worries and cares to God.”  If we give them to God, then it’s His problem and we don’t have to worry about it.

Worry never helps anyway.

Worrying about a problem never solves a problem.

If you give your problems to God, then He can do something about them.

We also need to control our thought life.

When bad thoughts come, we need to kick them out.  You can’t stop them from coming, but you can choose to think on something else.

Worry is thinking on what the enemy says.  The next time a worry comes choose to think good things.  Begin to thank the Lord for all the good things He has done in your life.

It is important that kids know what they have control over in their life.  Bad things do happen, and God always provides a way for us.  He has given us tools to use – prayer is one of them.

Teaching kids how to give their worries to the Lord, will help them their whole life.

I have created a whole lesson teaching kids how to pray the Prayer of Commitment.

They will learn, in this one lesson:

  • How to commit their cares and worries to the Lord
  • How to control their thought life
  • What to do when worry comes knocking
  • How to pray when bad things happen

This lesson is in the Super Church 2.0 Prayer series.

Your kids will learn nine different prayers and how to use each prayer.
