Does God speak to preschoolers?

Creating environments where God can speak to kids is indeed a crucial goal for teachers involved in preschool ministry.

Here are four important steps that can help facilitate this goal:

1.  SEE BEYOND THEIR CURRENT AGE
Recognize that every child has unique potential and value in God’s eyes. Like Hannah, who saw something special in Samuel, it is essential to look beyond the immediate and see the potential for spiritual growth and development in each child. Believing in their capacity to understand and connect with God will shape your approach to teaching and interacting with them.

2.  TEACH THE BIBLE AND EXPECT GOD TO SPEAK
Present the truths of the Bible to preschoolers, knowing that God is actively present and speaking to them. While it may sometimes seem like they are not fully grasping the message, have faith that God’s Word is powerful and transformative. Trust that the Holy Spirit is at work in their hearts and minds, even if you don’t immediately see the results.

3.  EMPHASIZE WORSHIP
Encourage and facilitate worship experiences for preschoolers. Jesus Himself affirmed the importance of children’s praise. Their worship may be simple and brief, but it is meaningful to God. Help children express their love and adoration for God in age-appropriate ways, allowing them to engage with Him personally.

4.  USE A GOOD CURRICULUM
Select a curriculum that goes beyond surface-level teaching and engages children with the deep truths of God’s Word. Look for resources that make the Bible relevant to their lives, addressing their unique challenges, and helping them navigate their world. By using age-appropriate examples, stories, and applications, you can demonstrate how the Scriptures provide guidance and solutions to their everyday problems.

Take a Virtual Tour of Kinder Church 2.0 here.

Consider the world of a five-year-old and the challenges they face. Address topics like friendship, kindness, sharing, obedience, forgiveness, and self-control using relevant Bible stories and principles. Help them see how God’s Word is applies to them for their specific circumstances.

By implementing these steps, you can create an environment where God’s voice is heard, His love is experienced, and preschoolers can begin to develop a meaningful relationship with Him.

Remember, the impact of your efforts may not always be immediately visible, but trust in God’s work in the lives of these young children.

We created Kinder Church 2.0 with preschoolers in mind.  We took the same approach we used in creating Super Church.  I believe that if it is in the Bible we can teach it to kids. The enemy is not waiting until these little kids grow up, why should we.  It is our job to equip kids with the gospel.
