The Holy Spirit spoke these words to me recently,
“Why don’t you do it?“
The problem was, I didn’t want to do it.
Here is my story.
I recently attended a large Kids Ministry Conference with thousands of Kids Pastors in attendance, but instead of feeling encouraged, I felt frustrated. Please don’t misunderstand me. It was a good conference, but it placed very little emphasis on the Holy Spirit.
I started thinking back to the KidMin conferences that Willie George used to do. They were large conferences, but they also emphasized the Holy Spirit. They were life-changing conferences for me.
I asked the Lord, “Why aren’t there any Kidmin conferences for Spirit-Filled churches?”
I heard these words: “Why don’t you do it?”
To be transparent, I didn’t want to host a conference; that is a lot of work and a lot of risk.
I had successfully hosted Kidmin conferences 20 years ago, but that was 20 years ago.
- Would it work today?
- Do people want this kind of conference today?
I wasn’t sure, but then the Holy Spirit prodded me.
“It’s time to dig another well. The water of the Holy Spirit is always flowing. Sometimes it falls like rain, but sometimes you have to dig for it.“
I knew what I needed to do.
I contacted my friend Becky Fischer, who has a similar vision for kids and the Holy Spirit.
“Becky, what do you think about doing a Kidmin conference together for Spirit-filled churches?”
Becky didn’t hesitate. “I’m in. I’ll do whatever I can to promote it.”
Becky, Debbie, and I planned our first conference in Houston, TX. We called it Raising Supernatural Kids! We had 150 registered guests from 20 states and four nations. One of the most exciting things was how many young leaders attended. About Half the people were under 40.
The preaching was anointed, and the worship was incredible. God’s presence showed up powerfully. We hit a gusher—a well of living water, which is the hunger of God’s people.
I am eternally grateful to the Lord for everything that happened, but most importantly, I figured out what I was supposed to do. I am supposed to host Spirit-filled conferences for parents and people who minister to kids.
That is why we are hosting the Supernatural Children’s Ministry Summit in Minneapolis, Sep 22-24. We need you there to offer your supply. Come hungry, expecting God to move, and He will! That’s what He does.
You can attend in person or stream the conference live. Either way, this will be a powerful event you don’t want to miss.
