A Prophetic Word of Encouragement

In October 1998, we hosted a Children’s Pastors Conference at Joy Christian Center in St. Cloud, MN. The theme was “Leading Children in Revival.” It was a radical idea at the time; however, it was what the Holy Spirit was leading us to do.

We took out a half-page ad in Charisma Magazine, which cost $2,500. This was a massive step of faith for a local Kids Pastor at a medium-sized church.

I know some people thought we were crazy for doing a conference like this in St. Cloud, MN. We had no idea how many people would come. In the end, it wasn’t huge – we had 300 people in attendance – but people came from 36 different states and several countries.

A part-time Kids Pastor from Bismarck, ND, shared this story with me after the conference. John Tasch had a word for her: “I’ve been watching you, and you’ve been thinking, as you watch the other speakers, ‘I can do that.‘ ‘ John went on to say, “Keep your eye on this lady because she is going places in Kids Ministry.“

That gal’s name is Becky Fischer. We have all seen what God did through Becky’s ministry, but it all started with a prophetic word of encouragement from a brother in Christ. However, it wasn’t just Becky. That conference started a fire in many, including me, that spread to kids around the world.

I have the same sense about the upcoming Supernatural Children’s Ministry Summit, September 30 – October 2, in Minneapolis. It’s more than a conference, it’s a gathering – a summit.
