Teaching Kids to Respond to Hatred

We live in an angry world. The voices of hate seem to be louder than the voices of kindness. As followers of Christ, we cannot participate in hate. We cannot respond with hatred.

Our kids can be affected by the anger and hatred, but what can we do about it?

Here’s the deal. People are going to hate us, but Jesus never told us to try to get people to stop hating. He told us to love our enemies.

What can you and I do to be proactive?

We can teach our kids to walk in love.

The Apostle Paul said it like this in Romans 12:

“Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, ‘I will take revenge; I will pay them back,’ says the LORD.

Instead, ‘If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.’

Every day, our kids have opportunities to respond with hatred or respond in love.
