Why I Wrote Super Church Classic

When I first began to teach children, I had a difficult time finding material and curriculum. The materials that were available at that time were outdated and did not cover Pentecostal or Charismatic principles.

Most curriculum companies leave out things like the gifts of the spirit, praying in tongues etc., because it was considered controversial and it would narrow the “market.”

After much frustration, I decided to write my own stuff.  The Lord impressed my wife, Debbie, and I to put our teaching in print, so children in churches around the world could be blessed.

There are three things that the Lord instructed us to do with Super Church Classic curriculum:

1. Make It Fun

I believe church should be the most exciting place to be for a kid. The church I grew up in made little effort to make church fun for children. Super Church Classic is packed full of exciting, fun material to make church the place kids want to be at.  We have incorporated fun into the Drama Skits and Object Lessons. 

2. Holy Spirit Curriculum

The Lord instructed us to emphasize Charismatic and Pentecostal doctrine. Of course, we teach fundamentals doctrine like the Blood of Jesus and the Cross.

We just don’t stop at the Cross, we go on to Pentecost.  The primary purpose of Super Church is to lead children to salvation, and allow them to experience the power of the Holy Spirit.

3. Abundance of Material

One problem I had when teaching from curriculum was that my curriculum always seemed to run out before my pastor did. Super Church Classic is designed to last for 80-90 minutes and is jam packed with material.

Each lesson includes a Lesson Outline, Object Lessons, Service Order, Drama Skit, Recorded Puppet Skits, Color Pages, Review Questions on Slides and 4 Review Games. 

SUPER CHURCH CLASSIC was developed by taking the four basic principles I used for every lesson I teach.
 

When I started out, I thought, “Where do I want my children church kids to be at the end of the year?”  I picked out the topics I wanted to cover and then broke it down and developed the series I would teach.

Super Church Classic is neatly organized into four teaching series:

• Christian Foundations starts your kids off with a solid foundation as you cover the basic beliefs of the Christian faith. 

• Learning To Pray gives your kids scriptural keys to answered prayer.  You will teach a different kind of prayer each week.

• Divine Healing establishes the origin of sickness and how they can receive supernatural healing.  This in-depth study shows how Jesus paid the price for our healing and then gives seven scriptural ways that God still heals today.

• Gifts Of The Spirit teaches children how to hear the voice of God, and about the nine gifts of the Spirit. Children are fully capable of operating in the Gifts of the Spirit, they just need someone to believe they can and to teach them. 

Super Church Classic is written in a series and each week is built on a theme.

Throughout the year you will teach 48 Spirit-Filled Lessons using 96 Object Lessons, 48 Drama Scripts, 48 Recorded Puppet Skits, 48 Coloring Pages, 48 Review Question Slides and 4 Review Games.

Each lesson in Super Church Classic is designed to build upon each other. This is where repetition comes in.  

When you teach the Prayer series, you will start with the Prayer of Salvation.  Each week you will review the previous lessons.  By the time you are finished with the Prayer series, you will have reviewed the first lesson ten times.
