Are Your Kids Ready to Grow Up Strong in Christ?

In a world filled with complexities, Jesus’ command to “go into all the world and make disciples” may sound like a daunting task. But, when it comes to nurturing the faith of children, it’s all about embracing simplicity.

To truly make disciples of the kids in our classes, we need to understand what it means to be a disciple and how we can guide them in their spiritual journey.

What Does It Mean to Make a Disciple?

Before we delve into the process, let’s clarify what being a disciple really means.

Simply put, a disciple is someone who listens to Christ and obeys His teachings.

The foundation of discipleship is built on a desire to learn and train under the guidance of Christ. Now, let’s break down the steps to help kids grow strong in Christ.

Step 1: Born Again

Encouraging children to embrace Christ is more than reciting the sinner’s prayer; it’s about nurturing a genuine relationship with Him, laying the foundation for their spiritual journey. This step marks the moment when a child comprehends that faith goes beyond rules, recognizing their need for Christ’s presence.

Step 2: Read the Bible

To become true disciples, children must not only learn the Bible but also how to read and apply it. Incorporating Bible reading into programs is essential, enabling kids to navigate God’s Word. This goes beyond memorization, teaching them life lessons and decision-making.

Step 3: Attend Church

Church is more than worship; it’s where God often speaks to us. Regular attendance keeps faith alive and encourages engagement. It creates an atmosphere for children to learn from their peers and spiritual leaders.

Step 4: Prayer

Prayer is vital, fostering a two-way conversation with God. It’s a time for children to express their feelings and listen to God’s guidance, deepening their connection with Him.

Step 5: Obedience

Obedience to God’s teachings is the crux of spiritual growth, not age. Children learn to understand the wisdom in God’s commands, realizing that obedience leads to fulfillment and purpose in life.

By embracing these five simple steps, we can help children grow strong in Christ. As teachers, mentors, and parents, it is our responsibility to guide them on this journey, instilling in them the principles of discipleship that will last a lifetime.

When we help children develop a personal relationship with Christ, understand the power of the Bible, engage with their faith community, cultivate a vibrant prayer life, and practice obedience, we empower them to navigate the challenges of life with a solid foundation of faith.
