The Crucial Role of Sharing the Gospel in Kids’ Ministry

Today, I want to share a story—a story that resonates deeply with the heart of children’s ministry.

My wife and I consider ourselves fortunate that a few years ago we were granted a unique opportunity: participation in Jim Wideman’s coaching program. Are our lessons infused with Scripture? Do they resonate with meaningful accounts from the Bible? Our children need to understand that we rely on God’s grace to: “Be good”, “Obey right away”, and “Honor our father and mother”.

If these questions challenge you, it’s a good thing. It’s time for us to step back and evaluate our approach.

Observe a Teacher:

Attend a Sunday class and evaluate whether the Gospel message is clearly presented. If you’re the sole teacher, take time to critically review your curriculum.

Self-Evaluation:

Record yourself teaching and analyze how effectively you convey the Gospel in your lessons. Yes, it might feel uncomfortable, but it’s a powerful technique used in speaking classes.

Pouring Ourselves into the Lessons:

Let’s pour our hearts into the lessons we teach. Let’s challenge our fellow teachers to do the same. When weekends and mid-week sessions arrive, let’s operate out of our overflow—our passion for sharing the Gospel.
